HSC Major Textiles Project Mentoring

The Major Textiles Project (MTP) is one of the most significant components of the HSC Textiles & Design course. Students are required to design, create, and document a textile item while demonstrating a clear understanding of the design process.

HSC Major Textiles Project Mentoring

Mentoring sessions at The Textile Room provide structured support to help students stay on track and produce a strong project and folio.

Sessions may include:

• Clarifying and refining project ideas
• Identifying historical, cultural, and contemporary design influences
• Developing and refining design sketches
• Planning experimentation and sampling
• Documenting the design process in the folio
• Practical advice on construction and techniques
• Reviewing folio progress and improving written explanations

Each session is tailored to the individual student and their project.

Mentoring can take place at any stage of the project, including:

• Early concept development
• Design development and experimentation
• Production and construction
• Final folio review and editing

Regular mentoring sessions help students stay organised and confident throughout the project timeline.
